Bay Area Legal Aid provides free legal assistance for low income persons in Social Security, General Assistance, CalWORKs, Food Stamps, CAPI, Medi-Cal, and Medicare appeals. The Family & Children’s Law Center provides high quality, low cost legal advice and representation in family law matters, including domestic violence, divorce, paternity, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, step-parent adoption, and guardianship. The Center uses a sliding scale fee arrangement ($0 - $125 per appointment based on income).

Legal Aid of Marin provides civil legal services to low income and senior residents of Marin, especially in regards to tenent rights, debtor rights, and worker rights. 

Marin Advocates for Children

Marin Advocates for Children has two programs: the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program and the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) program. CASA provides trained volunteer advocates for children in the dependency system and the juvenile and probate courts. CAPC provides training to individuals under the law mandated to report child abuse and neglect. The Council also coordinates the county’s Child Death Review Team and convenes community meetings on topics relevant to preventing and treating child abuse and neglect.

The Marin County Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service is sponsored as a public service for those who need an independent lawyer’s advice and can pay a reasonable fee. The Lawyer Referral Service schedules a half-hour consultation for a $35 fee, with an attorney who is qualified in those areas necessary to meet your specific legal needs.
